Simple by Design

Three steps to your morning call

No charts. No jargon. Just the answer you need before your alarm goes off.

Pick Your Break

Search from thousands of named surf spots worldwide — beach, reef, point, or river mouth. Tidal locks onto your local break's exact exposure and bathymetry.

Get Your Daily Score

Every morning at 6 AM we crunch offshore buoy data, NOAA wind models, and tidal harmonics into one honest 1–5 paddle-out score tailored to your spot.

Paddle Out With Confidence

Open the app, see the score, grab your board or sleep in. No analysis paralysis — just a clear answer backed by the same data the pros use.

Every Break, Covered

Your spot. Your score.

Whether you surf a crumbly beach break or a hollow reef, Tidal's algorithms understand how each break type transforms raw swell.

Beach Break

Sandy & Shifting

Sand bars move — we account for seasonal shifts in peak location and intensity.

Surfer on a tropical reef break, clear blue water
Reef Break

Hollow & Precise

Reef breaks are swell-direction sensitive — our scores reflect the ideal window.

Long perfect point break wave peeling down the line
Point Break

Long & Predictable

Points shine in specific swells. We rate the angle, period, and size combination.

River mouth surf break where estuary meets ocean waves
River Mouth

Tidal & Technical

River mouths are tidal — our forecast weights the push and pull of freshwater meets salt.

The Algorithm

One number. Four ingredients.

Every morning Tidal blends four real-time data streams into a single, honest paddle-out score. Not a color band — a number you can actually reason with.

Questions

Everything you want to know

Still unsure? Here are the questions we'd ask too.

What surf breaks does Tidal cover?
Tidal supports beach breaks, reef breaks, point breaks, and river mouth breaks. We're building out our spot database progressively — waitlist members get to vote on which breaks we prioritize next. At launch we'll cover several hundred well-known spots across the US, Australia, and Europe.
Is Tidal free to use?
We plan to offer a free tier with your home break's daily score, and a premium tier that unlocks multi-day forecasts, session history, and unlimited breaks. Early access members will get an extended free trial of premium — details to be confirmed at launch.
When does Tidal launch?
We're targeting a limited beta in the coming months. Waitlist members are notified first, break by break as we roll out. Join now and we'll reach out as soon as your spot is ready.
How accurate is the forecast?
Tidal draws from NOAA buoy data, GFS and ECMWF wind models, and tidal harmonic tables — the same sources professional surf forecasters use. No forecast is perfect, but our score is calibrated to be accurate enough to reliably tell you whether it's worth leaving the house, which is all a casual surfer really needs.
What devices will Tidal work on?
Tidal will launch as a mobile app for iOS and Android, plus a progressive web app (PWA) you can add to your home screen from any browser. We're also exploring widgets so you can glance at your score without even opening the app.
